Why Feed Raw?

A raw diet is also referred to as a species appropriate diet. This means it is an unprocessed and natural, containing a combination of raw meat, bone, offal. You can add fruit and veg if you want to, and if your dog can tolerate it. Dogs have become domesticated, but their digestive systems haven’t. Most dog foods you buy are high in carbs and filled with fillers (rice, meat derivatives, unnatural flavourings and additives) that are not healthy and have no health benefits to your dog. Raw food is packed full of all the essential nutrients needed for a balanced diet. With no nasty additives or preservatives, you can be sure that your dog is eating the healthiest and best diet possible. For your dog to thrive, they benefit the most from fresh ingredients that mimic their own species dietary needs (BARF and PMR)

Adult: You should feed your adult dog between 2 - 3 % of their ideal body weightper day. Ideally this should be split between two meals per day: breakfast and dinner. Some dogs may need more or less depending on their weight, body shape and how active they are. Puppies: You should feed your puppy between 5-6% of their body weight per day until they are fully grown, spread across 3 to 4 meals a day. You can work this out using the BARF calculator on our Raw Feeding Guide section. If for any reason you are struggling, please contact us and we will be more than happy to help.
All our dinners are frozen and should be kept frozen until you are ready to use.You can find the before date which can be found on the label, on each pack. When defrosting the dinners, you should leave it in a place that is cool (not warm) overnight. If you forget to take food out to defrost, you may place a tub or chubb into a sink of warm water. If the dinner is partially frozen still at feeding time, add some warm water from a kettle and allow to sit for five minutes then it should be ready to serve. Use the dinners within 2-3 days of defrosting. For Best Before date, please see the label or side of the pack.
Healthy dogs have a natural defence to bacteria in raw food. The salivaglands in dogs contain the enzymes lysozyme and peroxidase, lactoferrin, defensins, cystian and an antibody, lgA, which is all antibacterial. The strong stomach acid not only helps digest raw meat and bone, but it also helps to kill off unwanted bad bacteria. That is not to say that a dog cannot get sick from bacteria like salmonella - they are just better at defending it than us humans. All our suppliers have exceptionally high standards to ensure the raw food you buy has been sourced, handled, prepared and stored correctly and is safe to feed.
